An undeniable fact between water insecurity and gender inequality in a country like Haiti. On the day of World Water Day, I want to highlight theses experiences, especially with the Haitian women and girls. Water insecurity tends to have greater effects on women and girls than it does men. In Haiti as it is in most third world countries, women and girls are responsible for water collection and transportation. Women and girls have to travel a few kilometers to fetch water. When they find water, it is often not safe to drink, it is often taken from rivers or spring, full of waterborne illnesses.

If you get up everyday, turn up your tap and get fresh water. Thank God! Because not everyone is so lucky. Today as we celebrate World Water Day, lets think of those people who are not so fortunate.
